Terms of use
ChordTile is a tool for studying music: it reads a file you choose, shows the structure of the song by sections and bars, and plays the tab so you can practise.
- The files are yours. Only load files you have the right to use, for example your own transcriptions, files you bought or files the author shares for study. Many songs and transcriptions are protected by copyright.
- Your files stay yours. They are opened in your browser and stored, privately, in your account so you can use them on any device you sign in to. They are never shared with anyone.
- Accounts and Premium. An account is free and personal (you need one to load your own songs; without it you can try the sample song). Keep your password to yourself. Premium is sold as a monthly or yearly subscription, which renews automatically until you cancel it in “Manage subscription”, or as a single lifetime payment. Prices include VAT. If you cancel, Premium stays on until the end of the period you paid for.
- The chart is an estimate. The chord of each bar is detected automatically and may be wrong. You can fix any bar.
- The tool is provided as is, without warranties. We are not responsible for how you use the files you load.
- Contact. For any question about these terms, Premium or a payment, write to support@chordtile.com or use the contact form.
Privacy
- We collect as little as possible. You can try ChordTile with the sample song without an account, and then we don’t collect or keep any personal data. There are no advertising cookies, trackers or visitor statistics. To load your own songs you need a free account (see below).
- Nothing is kept in your browser except the sign-in session (so you stay signed in). Your songs and everything about them (section names and splits, notes on the bars, chosen instrument, practice progress, Tile by Tile step) and your preferences (chart options, theme, audio delay, metronome sound, whether you have seen the tour) are stored in your account. Without an account, nothing you change is kept. If an older version of the site left songs or settings in your browser, they are moved to your account the first time you sign in and then deleted from the browser.
- Your account: we store your email address, your name (if you give it) and your password, which is kept only as a secure hash by our provider and never visible to us; the files of the songs you load and their details (title, artist, number of bars, when you added and last opened them); and the data described above. Everything is hosted by Supabase, is private to you and is never shared. When you delete a song, its file and data are deleted from your account. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time on your account page.
- Premium and payments: creating an account starts a free 7-day Premium trial; no card is needed. If you buy Premium, the payment is handled by Stripe: we never see or store your card details, only whether your plan is active and until when. You can cancel a subscription at any time; Premium stays on until the end of the period you paid for. Your practice progress (time per section, best speed) is stored in your account.
- No third-party requests: the fonts, the player and the sounds are served by the site itself (the only exceptions are Supabase, only if you sign in or send the contact form, and Stripe, only when you pay). The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which, like any server, receives the IP address of visitors in order to deliver the pages; see the GitHub privacy statement.
- Contact form: if you write to us, we keep your name, email, topic and message (and, to stop abuse, a one-way hash of your IP address, never the address itself) only to answer you, and delete them within 12 months. The message is stored with Supabase and forwarded to our inbox (support@chordtile.com, hosted by OVHcloud) by Resend.
- Your rights: you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to its use, by writing to support@chordtile.com or through the contact form. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Portugal, the CNPD).
